Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 11, 2026
AnyManual (anymanual.page) translates instruction manuals into other languages and keeps the translations in a shared library for its users. This policy explains what personal data we handle, why, who helps us, and what you can ask of us.
Who is responsible
AnyManual is run by Artem Labunko, a private individual in Ukraine, who is the controller of your personal data. Write to arty@anymanual.page with any question or request about your data.
What we collect
- Account details. Your email address; your display name (by default the part of your email address before the @, which you can change); whether your account is approved, and by whom; your interface language and colour theme. If you sign in with Google, Google gives us your email address, your name and an identifier for your Google account. We never see your Google password.
- Sign-in data. If you set a password, it is stored only as a secure hash. Our sign-in provider records when you sign in and technical details of each sign-in, such as your IP address and browser.
- What you upload and write. The PDF manuals you upload and the translations made from them; comments, votes and requests to translate a part again; reports you send, including any screenshots and explanations; addresses of people you share a manual with.
- Usage. How many pages are translated for you each month and what the translations cost us.
- Technical logs. Our servers keep logs of requests and errors so we can run the service and keep it secure.
We do not use advertising, tracking or analytics cookies, and we do not sell your data.
Why we use it
- To provide the service you signed up for: your account, uploads, translations, the library, sharing, comments and emails about your account. (Contract.)
- To keep the service safe and working: approving new accounts, checking every upload for viruses and unsafe content, preventing abuse, handling reports and copyright complaints, and fixing faults. (Our legitimate interests in running a secure service.)
- To meet legal obligations, for example when we must act on a takedown request or answer an authority. (Legal obligation.)
Who can see your content
- Manuals you put in the library (the default when uploading) can be read by everyone signed in to AnyManual; manuals marked public can also be read by people whose accounts are waiting for approval. Manuals you keep private can be read only by you, the people you share them with, and administrators.
- Comments are shown to other readers of the manual with your display name.
- Administrators can see account details (including email addresses), uploads, reports and usage, in order to approve accounts and run the service.
Service providers
We use these providers to run AnyManual. They process data only on our behalf and under their own terms and security measures:
- Supabase (database, sign-in and file storage), servers in the European Union.
- Cloudflare (delivery of the website).
- Hetzner (the server that checks and translates uploads).
- Anthropic (the AI models that translate). The text of the manuals you upload, and pictures of their pages where needed, are sent to Anthropic to produce translations. Under Anthropic's commercial terms this content is not used to train its models.
- Resend (sending emails, such as sign-in links and approval notices).
- Better Stack (server logs and monitoring).
- Google (only if you choose to sign in with Google, and for the fonts this website loads from Google Fonts, which means your browser contacts Google's servers).
Some of these providers are based in or may process data in the United States. Where data leaves the European Economic Area or Ukraine, we rely on the safeguards the providers offer for such transfers, such as standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep data
- Your account and your content stay until you delete them or ask us to delete your account. Shared library manuals you uploaded may be kept for other readers unless you ask us to remove them.
- Rejected applications and accounts whose email was never confirmed may be deleted after a while.
- Technical logs are kept for a limited time and then deleted.
- After an account is deleted, copies may remain in backups for a short time until they are overwritten.
Your browser
AnyManual stores a few things in your browser's local storage: your sign-in session, your interface language and theme, your search and filter choices, and your bookmarks in manuals. Bookmarks stay only in your browser. These are needed for the site to work; nothing is used to track you.
Your rights
You can ask us to give you a copy of your personal data, to correct it, to delete it or your account, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive your data in a portable format. Write to arty@anymanual.page. We will answer within one month. If you believe we handle your data unlawfully, you can complain to the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights or, if you live in the European Economic Area, to the data protection authority of your country.
Children
AnyManual is not intended for children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Security
We protect data with encrypted connections, access rules in the database that limit what each account can read, virus scanning of uploads, and restricted administrator access. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your data, we will tell you as the law requires.
Changes
We may update this policy as the service changes. We will post the new version here with its date and, for important changes, tell signed-in users in the app or by email.
Language
This policy is available in several languages. If the versions differ, the English version prevails.
